Sustainability

Recycling Solutions

Recyclability is a key criterion for a sustainable product. Developing smart end-of-life solutions helps make end products fully recyclable, which closes the loop. For packaging and labels applications, we have developed several solutions that improve or enable recycling, establishing product-specific recycling loops.

Benefits of recycling

  • Keep valuable resources in the material cycle
  • Replace or complement fossil feedstock in production
  • Gain new environmentally-conscious customers

Unlocking the full potential of recycling with adhesives

Eventually, the useful life of even the best plastic tray or paperboard label comes to an end. They are disposed of after use or consumption of the goods. Our adhesive raw materials give products recycling properties and biodegradability to impress customers with a sustainable ending for the products they use.

EU Regulations: How to make your packaging PPWReady

With the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR), the flexible packaging industry is undergoing major transformation, bringing both challenges and opportunities. In the shift toward fully recyclable laminated packaging, water-based adhesive solutions offer a fast track to safety and compliance - not just for today, but for the future.
Illustration comparing the life cycle of laminated packaging before and after the implementation of the EU Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR). The "before" side shows a linear process ending in disposal. The "after" side depicts a circular life cycle, where laminated packaging is collected, recycled, and reused, reflecting the goals of the PPWR to reduce waste and promote sustainability.

How to protect your license to operate: Tackling PAA in laminated packaging

What most people know: The EU’s Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation (PPWR) will require plastic packaging to be recyclable and to contain recycled materials by 2030. What few realize: Your packaging’s market viability could be at serious risk if harmful substances - such as primary aromatic amines (PAA) - are formed during the recycling process.
