Adesola Olayide Afolabi

Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute, Nile University of Nigeria, Abuja, Nigeria 

Adesola Afolabi is a research fellow at the Center for Advanced Pavement Technology (CAPaT) at the Nigerian Building and Road Research Institute. He is also a master's student at the Nile University of Nigeria, specializing in sustainable pavement materials and technology. Adesola has a background in transportation and highway engineering. He has contributed to numerous research projects focused on bitumen modification, bitumen rejuvenation, bio materials, SuperPave development specifications for Nigeria, and Pave with Waste initiatives and sustainable pavement maintenance strategies.

His work was accepted for publication at the recently concluded 2025 PFDM conference at Delft University.  Adesola is actively involved in collaborations with top academic scholars in the field of pavement materials.  

At the Asphalt Symposium, Adesola will present his research on the mechanical response of styrene-butadiene-rubber modified bitumen for sustainable pavement in tropical regions. His presentation will highlight the importance of bitumen modification in pavement construction and its potential for creating long-lasting asphalt pavements, with a view toward field implementation in tropical and high-temperature regions.
