German Design Award 2024 for composite board made from coffee grounds

The award-winning product was the Coffee Composite Board, an interior design solution created in cooperation with our partners SUS GmbH and DI Dekodur International. The Coffee Composite Board is made from coffee grounds which are bound with the water-based acrylic dispersion acForm^® and laminated with ECO-HPL, a CO₂-neutral laminate.

With the German Design Awards, the German Design Council Foundation honours significant design trends as well as pioneering and innovative design achievements. The award-winning Coffee Composite Board, is primarily intended for the interior design of coffee shops. It serves as a substitute for wood and is a particularly environmentally friendly solution. Thanks to its CO₂ storage and without the addition of formaldehyde, it represents a milestone in sustainable material technology for the furniture industry.
