Meeting the growing demand: BASF production sites in Heerenveen and Trostberg receive biomass balance certifications
Biomass balanced products (BMB products) support the transition to a circular economy for both BASF and our customers. Two additional production sites for dispersions and construction additives have now been certified.
At BASF, we aim to accelerate the transition of our products to a circular economy by replacing fossil feedstock used in manufacturing with renewable feedstock. BMB products empower our customers to reduce their carbon footprints via a drop-in solution, without requiring any reformulations or changes to existing manufacturing processes.
To meet the growing demand for BMB products, we are continuously increasing the number of our certified production sites. Recently, our site in Trostberg, Germany, has completed the REDcert2 process and our Heerenveen site in the Netherlands has added an ISCC Plus certificate to its existing REDcert2.
These globally recognized certification schemes ensure that a defined amount of bio-based feedstock is used in our production sites in place of fossil feedstocks and that they are correctly attributed to the certified products.
In Trostberg, we manufacture more than 220 different products that improve the workability of building materials and increase their durability. In Heerenveen, we develop and produce water-based binders and high-quality additives e.g. for the printing ink and coating industries.
As we continue our journey towards a circular economy, further site certifications are already on the way.
